Eclipse merupakan film roman fantasi yang merupakan seri ketiga dari novel laris karya Stephenie Meyers lanjutan dari Twilight (2008) serta New Moon (2009). Film ini kini digarap oleh David Slade yang pernah menggarap film horor vampire unik 30 Days of Night (2007). Seperti dua film sebelumnya, Eclipse masih pula dibintangi aktor-aktris yang tengah naik daun yakni Kristin Stewart, Robert Pattinson, serta Taylor Lautner.

Setelah peristiwa sebelumnya hubungan Bella (Stewart) dan Edward (Pattinson) kini semakin dekat. Di tempat lain, vampir musuh lama keluarga Cullen, yakni Victoria secara diam-diam membentuk sepasukan vampir untuk menuntaskan dendam lamanya. Victoria yang mengincar Bella serta pasukannya yang menganggu kedamaian kota membuat dua klan yang lama berseteru, yakni vampir dan werewolf harus saling bekerja sama. Edward dan Jacob (Lautner) yang sama-sama menginginkan dan mencintai Bella selalu terlibat dalam perselisihan kecil yang tidak pernah berakhir hingga sang gadis memilih satu diantara mereka.

Eclipse boleh dibilang adalah seri terburuk dibanding dua film sebelumnya. New Moon sendiri diluar sukses filmnya adalah film yang sangat buruk secara kualitas dan Eclipse semakin menyempurnakannya. Dua film ini adalah contoh bagaimana film bisa begitu buruk dari banyak sisi terutama cerita dan dialog. Seperti halnya New Moon, Eclipse sama sekali tidak menawarkan sesuatu yang baru. Seperti laiknya sinetron, konflik tampak sekali terlalu dibuat-buat dan dilebih-lebihkan seperti konflik kekanakan antara Edward dan Jacob. Salahkan saja Bella mengapa ia memilih mencintai vampir dan werewolf. Konflik selamanya akan terus ada selama Bella masih menjadi manusia. Sungguh konyol! Film ini semata-mata hanya menjual pesona serta “fisik” Pattinson dan Lautner lalu beberapa kali adegan mesra amatiran. Satu hal lagi yang membuat film ini begitu memuakkan adalah dialog. Sepanjang film dipenuhi dialog-dialog bodoh tak bermutu yang sama sekali tak berguna dan mudah sekali diantisipasi penonton.

Eclipse adalah satu contoh sempurna film bakal sukses komersil yang sangat buruk secara kualitas. Pesan moral yang tersembunyi secara cerdas dan simbolik di film pertamanya kini sudah memudar. Film ini justru menyisipkan pesan-pesan moral yang disajikan secara vulgar, gamblang, dan konyol seperti jangan melakukan seks sebelum menikah, menghargai keperawanan, penggunaan kondom, dan lain sebagainya. Entahlah mungkin cara ini manjur untuk remaja masa kini. Pesan saya untuk Anda: lebih baik tunggu versi dvdnya cuma buang-buang waktu saja. Maybe i’m just too old for this!

  1. Setuju! kualitas Eclipse jelek dan mengecewakan banget! Sama sekali ga ada gregetnya. Penggambarannya terlalu menyederhanakan versi bukunya. Sama sekali ga berkesan!

  2. sangat mebosankan dan sangat remaja.. tp sepertinya remaja pun bs meilih mana film yg layak mana yg tidak.. film ini mengumbar bumbu seks yg tidak menggugah selera. tidak ada adegan yg membuat ghreget. semua datar2 saja, bhkan saat pertaruurngan antar vampir..bahkan dakota fanning pun tidak terlihat menawan disini..;(
