Sekuel Resident Evil masih saja terus diproduksi terutama karena sekuel sebelumnya, Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010) sukses besar. Sudah tak ada lagi sesuatu yang baru bisa ditawarkan sejak sekuel keduanya (Resident Evil: Extinction).
Kisahnya persis melanjutkan sekuen akhir dari Afterlife yang openingnya disajikan cukup menarik menggunakan teknik reverse slowmotion. Tak disangka rupanya kejutan filmnya hanya sampai disini saja. Selanjutnya formula cerita tidak berbeda dengan sebelumnya. Alice terbangun dalam sebuah ruangan asing lalu ia berhasil keluar, kemudian.. run.. kill.. and destroy. Alice (Jovovich) seperti tak ada capeknya melawan zombie-zombie ini.
Tak seberapa lama beberapa karakter muncul membantu Alice. Who cares.. Tak ada satu karakter pun yang mampu menarik simpati karena pertunjukan utamanya memang adalah adegan aksi. Semua orang juga tahu jika Alice tidak terkalahkan. Di saat Alice bersenang-senang dengan para zombie lalu dimana kesenangan kita.
Seri Resident Evil memang bukan untuk moviegoer serius. Namun untuk pecinta film aksi atau video game-nya sekali pun film ini sudah tidak menghibur karena tak ada lagi motif selain hanya survival. There’s nothing left to tell.. Konon film ini masih akan dibuat satu lagi sekuel penutupnya jika film ini sukses. Does anybody give a damn? (D)

His passion for film extends to the present day. He continues to provide insightful critiques of contemporary films on montasefilm.com, while actively participating in film production endeavors with the Montase Film Community. His own short films have garnered critical acclaim at numerous festivals, both domestically and internationally. Recognizing his exceptional talent, the 2022 Indonesian Film Festival shortlisted his writing for Best Film Criticism (Top 15). His dedication to the field continues, as he currently serves as a practitioner-lecturer for Film Criticism and Film Theory courses at the Yogyakarta Indonesian Institute of the Arts' Independent Practitioner Program.
