Copshop adalah film aksi thriller arahan Joe Carnahan yang kita kenal mengarahkan film-film aksi populer, macam The A Team, The Grey, hingga Boss Level. Copshop dibintangi nama-nama tenar, yakni Gerard Butler, Frank Grillo, Alexis Louder, serta Toby Huss. Diproduksi pada pertengahan tahun 2020, saat pandemi tengah panas-panasnya di AS, tampak skala produksinya pun ikut terdampak, melalui setting terbatas dalam kisahnya.

Seorang pembunuh bayaran, Bob Viddick (Butler) tengah mengincar seorang penipu Teddy Muretto (Grillo) yang dalam pelariannya ia sengaja memukul polisi agar ia ditangkap. Tak kehilangan akal, Viddick pun sengaja membuat ulah hingga ia pun dijebloskan di bui yang sama. Teddy ternyata menjadi buruan banyak pihak hingga kantor polisi di tengah gurun itu pun menjadi ajang perburuan seru. Seorang polisi perempuan muda tangguh, Valerie Young (Louder) berada di tengah-tengah, mengacaukan semua rencana mereka.

Aksi dalam ruang terbatas memang selalu menarik, terlebih satu sama lain beniat untuk saling bunuh. Alur cerita berjalan semakin intens walau dalam perjalanan, prosesnya tidak menggigit seperti seharusnya. Segmen kilas-balik yang menjadi motif cerita, malah justru merusak mood intensitas plot yang tengah panas-panasnya. Beberapa kejutan pun juga muncul yang semakin menambah sisi ketegangan. Sayangnya, film ini tidak mampu menampilkan klimaks yang sepadan dengan premisnya. Bukan karena aksinya, bisa jadi karena tokoh-tokohnya bicara terlalu banyak.

Bukan film aksi thriller terbaik di genrenya tetapi Copshop mampu memainkan plot dan tokoh-tokohnya dengan segar dalam ruang terbatas. Louder yang bermain bagus sebagai polisi muda yang tenang, justru mencuri perhatian di tengah dua bintang besarnya. Butler dan Grillo tidak bermain buruk, hanya saja, itu tadi, mereka bicara terlalu banyak. Walau terdapat beberapa kejanggalan plot di sana-sini, untuk sekadar hiburan, film ini tidaklah mengecewakan. Pada satu sisi kita juga dapat melihat bagaimana kreatifitas sang pembuat film dalam menyikapi situasi pandemi. Not bad at all.
