Cerita film dengan ruang terbatas memang bukan hal baru dalam film. Namun, ruang cerita ber-setting dominan mobil tahanan napi adalah satu hal yang jarang ditemui. Below Zero atau Bajocero adalah film aksi thriller produksi Spanyol arahan Fernando Navarro. Film rilisan Netflix ini dibintangi oleh aktor senior, Javier Gutierrez bersama Luiz Callejo, serta Karra Elejalde. Dengan berbekal kisah yang segar, lantas bagaimana film ini mengemas ketegangannya?

Martin (Guiterrez) adalah polisi senior yang baru saja dipindah posisinya. Di hari pertama bertugas, ia langsung mendapat tugas berat untuk memindahkan beberapa narapidana kelas kakap ke lokasi tahanan lain. Di malam yang dingin bersalju, mobil tahanan napi yang dibawa Martin dan rekannya berjalan melewati wilayah hutan dan pegunungan. Tak diduga, mobil tahanan tersebut dihentikan seseorang misterius yang mengincar satu tahanan di dalamnya. Martin dengan segala upaya berusaha melindungi para tahanan sementara di saat bersamaan para napi melihat ini sebagai peluang untuk kabur.

Tanpa banyak latar cerita, kisahnya langsung bergerak to the point yang tak seberapa lama kita sudah berada di jalanan. Plotnya di momen awal, sanggup memancing rasa ingin tahu kita karena penonton tak tahu mengapa dan bagaimana ini bisa terjadi. Kisah pun menjadi semakin menegangkan ketika Martin pun memutuskan untuk berlindung di dalam mobil tahanan bersama para napi. Posisi Martin di dalam ruang sempit dan serba tak menentu inilah yang membuatnya kisahnya menarik dan mengusik rasa penasaran. Simpati kita hanya terbatas pada sosok Martin, namun berkembangnya cerita, meluas ke para tahanan hingga sosok misterius tersebut. Ini yang menjadi masalah dan mulai mereduksi ketegangannya.

Apa yang dilakukan sosok misterius ini dalam satu momennya bisa jadi mampu mengundang rasa simpati kita. Siapa pun bakal terganggu mentalnya dengan rasa trauma sebesar itu. Namun, alangkah muspranya segala aksi “mulia”nya ketika ia melibatkan (baca: mengorbankan) orang-orang yang tak ada sangkut pautnya dengan masalah ini. Baik proses hingga eksekusi akhir menjadi terasa sia-sia. Aksi Martin yang mudah kita antisipasi juga tidak lantas membuatnya menjadi mulia. Orang lain bisa beranggapan berbeda. Saya hanya tidak suka dengan apa yang saya lihat.

Dengan premis yang menarik dan segar, Below Zero menyajikan sebuah thriller aksi menawan walau dalam beberapa momen terasa dipaksakan. Setidaknya, film ini telah mencoba menyajikan sesuatu yang baru dengan hanya berbekal ruang sempit. Con Air (1997) bisa jadi adalah satu contoh film terdekat yang boleh dibilang lebih menghibur. Menjaga intensitas ketegangan memang bukan hal yang mudah, terlebih kisah yang memiliki nilai serta sisi humanis yang kental. Dunia kini boleh jadi sudah gila dengan segala masalahnya. Tetapi ini bukan menjadi alasan bagi kita untuk ikut terseret di dalamnya.
