There hasn’t been a good vampire movie in a long time, and Night Teeth tries to offer a new perspective. Does it deserve to be called a good spectacle? The film was released by Netflix last week with director Adam Randall. This USD, 21 million budget film, stars a series of young stars, namely Jorge Lendeborg J.r., Debbie Ryan, Lucy Fry, Alfie Evan Allen, and Megan Fox.
Hundreds of years ago, the human and vampire races made a truce by binding an agreement, and only a handful of people knew about it. A vampire fed up with this, namely Victor (Allen), tries to take over the lead. Victor sends his two best subordinates, Blaire and Zoe, to kill the higher-ups of the vampire race. Meanwhile, Benny (Lendeborg) is the driver who takes Blaire and Zoe, who he knows; they are just having fun from one nightclub to another. When Benny finally came to his senses, he was already caught between two camps killing each other.
The premise is indeed interesting for the subgenre. We have seen this kind of rivalry many times, but it has never been presented like this. The plot of the film is more directed to the action of gangster rivalry with a secret coup. Unfortunately, not much effort is given, other than the romantic relationship between Benny and Claire, the story’s main character. This is what makes the plot easy to anticipate until the climax. The chemistry between the two of them is not bad at all; it’s just that the grand scheme of the story becomes meaningless. Problem-solving becomes too easy, even if it looks impossible.
Even though it doesn’t make an impression, Night Teeth is a vampire-themed comedy thriller with a fresh perspective. The comedic side is the one that feels the most dominant, even though the scenes don’t lead to it. A star classmate Megan Fox who only appears briefly, becomes more visible as a sweetener, even though with her strong vampire “aura,” she can occur with more portions. Too bad. Besides Fox, the “vampire” cast was impressed with the perfect facial features for their roles. Night Teeth is an entertaining film for mere entertainment, although the horror and suspense side is zero.
