The Bubble adalah film komedi satir arahan Judd Apatow yang juga ditulis olehnya. Film ini dibintangi sederetan bintang ternama, Karen Gillan, Laslie Mann, David Duchovny, Pedro Pascal, Keegan Michael-Key, Kate McKinnon, dengan pula belasan cameo besar yang muncul. Film ini baru saja dirilis kemarin oleh platform streaming Netflix.

Sukses film seri franchise Cliff Beast membawa produser untuk membuat sekuel kelimanya, Cliff Beast 6. Para pembuat film termasuk para pemainnya dikumpulkan dalam satu lokasi studio tertutup (diistilahkan the bubble) di sebuah wilayah di Inggris. Satu masalah besar adalah produksinya berlangsung dalam masa pandemi COVid-19 sehingga segala protokol kesehatan yang ketat diberlakukan selama produksi. Ringkasnya, film ini menyajikan semua aksi dan polah para kru serta pemain menghadapi situasi produksi yang tidak biasa ini.

Setelah menonton filmnya, butuh waktu sebentar untuk memproses semua yang saya tonton. Mengapa film dengan para pembuat dan pemain yang berpengalaman bisa terlibat dalam film semacam ini? The Bubble adalah salah satu film terburuk yang saya lihat sepanjang sejarah menonton medium ini. Sebagai genrenya film ini gagal total, sisi komedinya nyaris tak ada yang lucu sama sekali, dan lalu dialognya, OMG, siapa yang menulis dialog seburuk ini? Semua tahu jika film ini ingin merefleksikan semua kegilaan yang terjadi selama pandemi COVid-19 dalam industri film, namun apa gunanya jika kisah filmnya sendiri tidak bisa kita nikmati. Segala tentang film ini adalah absurd, baik cerita, dialog, dan aksi-aksinya. Film ini punya premis yang menarik dan jelas bisa dibuat jauh lebih menarik lagi.

Apakah para pemain dan pembuat film The Bubble sadar jika mereka membuat cerita tentang produksi B-Movies dan mereka sendiri ada di dalam film yang amat buruk dari semua aspeknya? Jika mereka ingin membuat film satir tentang pandemi dan semua kegilaannya, maka buatlah dengan elegan dan gaya yang berkelas. Netflix sebelumnya telah membuat satu film komedi satir cerdas dan berkelas, Don’t Look Up (nominasi film terbaik (komedi-musikal) Golden Globe). Kini apa yang mereka lakukan? Satu hal yang ingin saya tahu, apa yang mereka (para pemain) pikirkan ketika terlibat di sana? Apakah mereka menikmati dan menyukai dengan apa yang mereka lakukan?
