A seventeen-year-old aristocrat falls in love with a kind but poor artist aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic.

Entah kita sudah berapa kali menonton filmnya. Kisah cinta Rose dan Jack yang abadi sudah bukan isu lagi sewaktu menonton film versi 3D-nya ini. Konon Cameron mempersiapkan waktu cukup lama, sekitar 60 minggu dengan bea produksi transisi sekitar $18 juta. Cameron merestorasi  film ini menjadi menggunakan resolusi 4K yang mampu menghasilkan gambar berkualitas sangat baik.

Versi 3D-nya boleh dibilang sangat baik dan diatas rata-rata film-film 3D live action kebanyakan.  Walau resolusi 4K yang menjadi andalan tidak setajam dan sejernih yang dibayangkan namun tone gambarnya mampu menyatukan rekayasa digital dengan gambar live-nya. Hal ini tampak jelas pada adegan ketika Titanic mulai berlayar ke laut lepas. Foreground dan background pada hampir semua adegan disajikan cukup menawan walau kadang pada momen intim tertentu justru “menjauhkan” jarak antara dua karakter. Gambar foreground yang sengaja dibuat kabur kadang-kadang agak menggangu lalu jika pergerakan cepat (tracking shot) gambar menjadi tidak fokus dan sangat tidak nyaman dimata. Entah ini kesalahan teknis pihak eksibitor atau memang aslinya seperti ini.

Secara umum versi 3D Titanic sangat baik terutama pada separuh akhir kisahnya hingga klimaks filmnya. Penonton generasi sekarang yang belum pernah sama sekali melihat film ini bisa jadi  lebih menikmati filmnya. Bagi yang sudah pernah menonton filmnya berulang kali ibarat menikmati hidangan menu yang lezat sewaktu kita tidak lapar. Hanya mata kita yang menikmati namun tidak hati kita lagi.
