Apa yang terbesit di hatimu jika mendengar kata Sepak bola? Bola sepak? Atau judi online bola? Rasa-rasanya sudah tidak asing lagi bahkan kaum awam sekalipun. Sepak bola bukan sekadar ilusi permainan. Ia adalah mimpi yang diwariskan, harapan yang digantungkan, dan di negeri ini terkadang menjadi sandera bagi kepentingan kotor segelintir insan tak bertulang; licin nan menjijikkan. Mayoritas masyarakat Indonesia mencintai sepak bola dengan gairah yang membakar stadion, namun juga dengan luka yang mengendap dalam sunyi. Di balik sorak-sorai suporter, ada intrik yang membungkam sportivitas dan menggadaikan moral & martabat bangsa. Saya pikir, kita semua sepakat, 10-15 tahun terakhir ini (atau bahkan jauh dalam irama dekade sebelumnya) mafia bola itu kental terasa. Lihat saja mulai dari liga tarkam sampai kepada liga top-nya, T-O-P sekali bukan?

Di awal Januari 2025, kita disajikan sebuah film berjudul Elang (2025), karya terbaru Rizal Mantovani. Kisahnya tentu saja menyibak sisi kelam dunia sepak bola: ketika pertandingan tak lagi ditentukan oleh taktik dan semangat juang, melainkan atas transaksi di balik layar serta “ancaman berdarah.” Namun Elang bukan hanya tentang konspirasi mafia bola. Ia adalah kisah tentang anak yang memilih menjual masa depan demi menyelamatkan ibunya dari penyakit yang merenggut ingatan. Gejolak di antara keluarga yang terasa retak, cinta sehati, tanggung jawab, serta pengorbanan. Tentang tubuh yang dilatih untuk menendang bola, namun justru harus menendang balik ketidakadilan. Di persimpangan antara kehormatan bangsa dan kesehatan Ibu, Elang mengajak kita bertanya: sejauh mana seorang anak bangsa boleh berkompromi demi cinta yang paling semu kala purba?

Purwoko Ajie, also known as Puralexdanu Patjingsung, was born in Ciamis, West Java, on 13 October 1995. He pursued his undergraduate studies in the Television and Film Study Programme at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Surakarta from 2015 to 2019; and from 2022 to 2024 continued his postgraduate studies in the Cultural Studies Programme at Sebelas Maret University (UNS), Surakarta. During his studies, he actively engaged in writing books, film scripts (fiction/ documentary), and scholarly articles, while deepening his research interest in cultural studies with a focus on cinema and media. His written works include the independently published novels "Cinta Piramida" (2015) and "From Something To Nothing" (2018), as well as his contribution as a co-author to the book "30 Film Indonesia Terlaris 2002-2018" (2019) published by Montase Press. In the field of film criticism, he received national recognition through achievements at the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI), being selected as one of the Top 15 Best Film Criticism at FFI 2024 with his essay "Vina: Sebelum 7 Hari | Fenomena Spiritual, Viralitas, dan Pengungkapan Fakta Sosial," and later becoming a nominee for Best Film Criticism at FFI 2025 through his article "Tendangan, Pengkhianatan, dan Mimpi di Tengah Mafia: Alegori ‘Elang’ (2025) dalam Psiko-Politik Sepak Bola Nusantara." In addition to his writing activities, he also works in the field of directing short fiction and documentary films. His passion for cinema began in junior high school when he produced his first film "Salah Pelet" (2009). In 2016, he directed the short film "The Dakoen Doerang (Past & Now)", which was later screened at the International Children Film Festival 2018 in India as part of the World Cinema programme. He also produced the documentary "Teguh Between the Collapse of Gemstone" (2018), which received recognition at various international festivals. To this day, he continues to develop his cinematic works, both in screenwriting and short-film production, while deepening his cultural studies research related to film, media, and society. Besides his involvement in cinema, he also has experience in the field of information technology (IT), having worked as an IT staff member at several private companies and reputable websites. He is currently active in managing and writing for montasefilm.com and montase.org, as well as developing the mOntasefilm Android-based application: Indonesia’s first film-community application, currently undergoing technical refinement.
