Lagi, konsep minimalis digunakan dalam satu sajian thriller menegangkan di era pandemi. No Exit adalah film arahan Damien Power yang rilis pada platform streaming Hulu beberapa hari lalu. Film ini dibintangi oleh sejumlah aktor-aktris yang belum banyak kita kenal, yakni Havana Rose Liu, Danny Ramirez, Dennis Haysbert, serta Dale Dickey. Dari puluhan thriller minimalis yang ada, No Exit memiliki premis yang sangat menjanjikan, namun apakah punya sisi pembeda?

Darby (Liu) adalah gadis muda yang kini dirawat di panti rehabilitasi obat terlarang. Ia mendapat info jika ibunya tengah sakit keras di RS kota besar sebelah. Ia pun kabur dari panti dan dengan mobil curian Darby meluncur menuju ke arah kota tersebut. Malangnya, di separuh perjalanan ia terjebak badai, dan seorang polisi lokal menyarankan untuk pergi ke tempat transit tak jauh di depan. Di sana, sekelompok orang juga menanti badai berlalu. Ketika Darby mencari sinyal seluler untuk menghubungi adiknya, mendadak suara gaduh muncul dari dalam satu mobil van yang diparkir. Di dalam mobil, seorang gadis cilik terikat lemah dengan indikasi penculikan, dan satu diantara mereka yang berada dalam ruang transit adalah pelakunya.

Tercatat sejak setahun ini, puluhan thriller sejenis (minimalis) bermunculan. Siapa sangka genre ini kini semakin mendapat tempat, terlebih di era pandemi. Konsep ruang dan tokoh terbatas memang punya relasi dekat dengan sisi thriller dan bujet pun bisa ditekan dari sisi produksinya. No Exit memiliki premis yang menarik di antara film sejenisnya. Bermain dengan setting cerita terbatas dengan sisi misteri (siapa pelakunya?) yang menjadi pemicu ketegangan adalah satu sajian yang tak pernah membuat penonton bosan. No Exit melalui naskahnya mampu memberdayakan ruang dan karakter untuk membuat sajian intens dan penuh twist dari momen ke momen.

No Exit adalah thriller minimalis solid dengan sisi ketegangan yang cukup untuk sekadar memuaskan penikmat genrenya. Satu pembeda adalah para tokoh ceritanya. Darby bukanlah sosok detektif pintar atau kuat secara fisik, namun dengan segala konflik batin masa lalunya, seakan peristiwa ini menjadi ajang penebusan dosa bagi dirinya. Tokoh-tokoh lainnya pula bukanlah sosok yang ideal, yang menjadikan film ini terasa membumi. Jika ada satu bintang top, filmnya pasti akan terasa berbeda dan alurnya mudah ditebak. Walau bakal kurang greget untuk sajian layar lebar tapi No Exit adalah satu tontonan streaming wajib untuk penikmat genrenya.
