The Twilight Saga adalah sebuah fenomena dalam industri film yang selalu ditunggu khususnya pada penggemar setianya yang kebanyakan remaja. Setelah seri ini berjalan sekian lama akhirnya tuntas juga melalui film ini. Kisahnya melanjutkan Breaking Dawn Part 1, kini Bella yang telah menjadi vampir menikmati peran barunya ini, seolah ia terlahir menjadi vampir. Renesmee, putri Bella dan Edward memiliki pertumbuhan fisik yang luar biasa cepat akibat bersatunya gen vampir dan manusia.  Jacob yang merupakan soulmate Renesmee, tak pernah jauh-jauh darinya. Masalah mulai muncul ketika, Alice mendapatkan pertanda jika Volturi datang dan ingin membunuh Renesmee karena dianggap melanggar hukum mereka.

Sepertiga cerita, alur kisahnya berjalan lambat seperti film-film sebelumnya namun begitu isu Volturi muncul mendadak tempo kisahnya berjalan cepat. Secara umum kisahnya tidak berbeda dengan sebelumnya, ringan dan tidak terlalu sulit diantisipasi. Berbeda dengan sebelumnya adalah kali ini peristiwa demi peristiwa berjalan dengan sangat cepat tanpa ada unsur drama yang berarti. Masalah selain isu Volturi seolah hanya tempelan, contohnya saja hubungan Bella dengan ayahnya. Lalu kejutan kecil dalam klimaks cerita justru menguntungkan bagi para penonton yang belum membaca novelnya. Alur kisah yang cepat dan dinamis ditambah belasan karakter baru mampu membuat film ini jauh lebih menarik dari film-film sebelumnya. Sekalipun demikian tetap saja tidak mampu mengangkat dialog-dialognya yang amat buruk dan dangkal, sama seperti kelemahan seri-seri sebelumnya. Kita bahkan bisa menduga apa yang akan dibincangkan sebelum dialog dimulai. It’s so frustrating..

Bujet produksi yang lebih dari $120 juta ternyata sama sekali tidak berpengaruh pada aspek rekayasa digital (CGI) yang kelasnya hanya medioker. It’s no big deal. Bedanya dengan aksi-aksi sebelumnya kali ini unsur kekerasan diperlihatkan secara eksplisit. Entah berapa kepala vampir yang ditarik hingga putus dalam aksi perkelahian brutal di klimaks cerita. Again.. it’s no big deal. Para fans (kebanyakan remaja wanita) sepertinya menikmati ini semua. Yes.. Para fans setianya yang sepertinya menikmati ini semua. Penonton seperti saya hanya bisa kebingungan dengan semua yang terjadi, mengapa masalah yang sebenarnya bukan masalah bisa menjadi masalah besar? Para vampir (versi Meyer) sepertinya memiliki masalah komunikasi. Satu pertanyaan kecil.. bagaimana mereka bisa bicara tentang hati (perasaan) jika mereka tidak lagi memiliki hati? Oh I’m glad this nightmare is over.
