Black Crab adalah film thriller perang produksi Swedia arahan Adam Berg. Kisahnya sendiri diadaptasi dari novel berjudul sama karya Jerker Virdborg. Film ini dibintangi aktris top, Noomi Rapace, bersama Jakob Oftebro, Dar Salim, dan David Dencik. Film berdurasi 114 menit ini baru saja dirilis oleh Netflix beberapa hari lalu. Film perang dengan dominasi setting salju lengkap dengan lautan yang membeku rasanya baru ini diproduksi. Apa kisahnya mampu bersaing dengan setting unik ini?

Bumi dilanda perang hebat, tidak terkecuali di Eropa timur, dan satu wilayah di sana tinggal menanti waktu untuk dikuasai pihak musuh. Prajuri tangguh, Caroline Edh (Rapace) bersama tim mendapat misi untuk mengantarkan sebuah paket rahasia yang diyakini dapat mengubah hasil perang. Paket tersebut harus diantar ke sebuah pulau yang ratusan mil jauhnya. Problemnya, mereka harus menyeberangi lautan yang membeku dan hanya boleh bergerak pada malam hari agar tidak terdeteksi musuh.

Satu kekuatan terbesar film ini adalah setting salju yang amat mengagumkan yang menjadikannya salah satu yang terunik di genrenya. Menggunakan kombinasi shot on location dan studio, setnya sungguh terlihat meyakinkan dengan nuansa kelam yang jarang kita saksikan dalam medium film. Beberapa pengadeganan mampu menyajikan gambar-gambar yang sangat menakutkan sekaligus indah untuk mendukung kisah “horor” perangnya. Dalam satu adegan, lautan membeku dengan ratusan mayat di bawahnya, bisa jadi adalah salah satu set film terbaik yang pernah saya tonton dalam beberapa dekade terakhir.

Black Crab menyajikan tontonan perang unik dengan setting istimewa, sekalipun eksekusi naskahnya kedodoran di segmen klimaks. Premisnya sebenarnya menjanjikan. Hingga separuh durasi, alur plotnya masih berjalan intens dengan beberapa sekuen menegangkan. Tidak hingga babak ketiga, filmnya seolah kehilangan arah dan pesannya. Ada banyak kejanggalan plot di sana yang justru melemahkan kisahnya. Lantas apa poin kisahnya? Baik dari sisi trauma Edh serta pesan perangnya tak mampu terangkum dengan tegas. Jika hanya untuk bicara soal bertahan hidup atau betapa gilanya perang, sudah banyak film yang menuturkan jauh lebih baik. Amat disayangkan, film ini hanya menyia-nyiakan set-nya yang luar biasa.
